Keep me close by Clare Francis is a well-plotted novel: the narrative has a nicely planned tempo that builds well and keeps the reader interested. The build up of suspense is excellent with the putative baddy changing in the reader’s mind chapter by chapter. Catherine Galitza was badly injured when a burglar came into her home – as her husband was knocked out just before, nobody knows just what happened. However, her friend remembers some spooky calls Catherine was getting in the months before. As she is in hospital her husband’s business seems to keep him away all the time, and her husband’s partner – who is very much devoted to Catherine, tried to find out what happened. At the same time the childhood family friend, Terry Devlin, now estranged for some reason, is also getting involved. Is either of them involved in what happened? And what on earth is happening with her hapless husband.
