Karin Slaughter’s novel Triptych [ISBN 978 0 09 948183 6] is well-constructed with a good plot a nicely structured and paced complex double narrative and a collection of psychologically flawed characters – both goodies and baddies – it’s a miracle how the former ever get near to the latter.
Michael Ormewood, Atlanta PD finds the mutilated body of a prostitute – and then has an officer from the Georgia Bureau – Special Agent Will Trent sent to help him even though he’d rather have been trusted to do this on his own. What he does find is that this latest murder appears to be part of a series and all kinds of people –including the police themselves have their skeletons falling out all over the place and getting in the way of finding the killer –who is still carrying on mutilating women.
